The Fullness of Christ (Colossians)

BWP-Fullness-Blank.jpg

Who is Jesus Christ? Two thousand years ago, the Apostle Paul wrote a letter to a church in modern-day Turkey to help them answer this question. And although this letter is very old, it contains principles and lessons that speak straight to our needs in the 21st Century.

The theme of Colossians is “fullness.” The key passage of Colossians reveals the dual aspects of fullness: “For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority.” (Colossians 2:9-10)

What does it mean to experience God’s fullness? Need faith? Need love? Need hope? The book of Colossians tells us that the secret to a fruitful Christian life is found in the fullness of Christ or “Christ in me.” In Jesus Christ we see the fullness of God.

The first half of Colossians speaks truth (doctrine) and the second half of Colossians tells us how to apply that truth (duty). Christianity is more than just knowing the truth. It is living the truth.

How will you live?
